We at Heartland Rescue offer a place of sanctuary to horses. Taking a holistic approach, every horse that comes to the farm is offered the chance to heal physically, mentally and emotionally.

Welcome to Heartland Rescue & Rehabilitation, a registered non-profit organization based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate horses, offering them a second chance at life. We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the welfare of these majestic animals and the community we serve.

As passionate advocates for equine welfare, we understand the importance of providing a safe haven for horses in need. Our team of three dedicated individuals works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for horses that have been neglected, abused, or abandoned. 

But our work goes beyond just horses. At Heartland, we believe in the power of horses to heal not only the body but also the mind and spirit. In addition to our rescue efforts, we run a skills development program specifically designed for underprivileged youth. Through this program, we aim to empower young individuals by teaching them valuable life skills and fostering a deep connection with these incredible animals.

We are proud to offer lessons and outrides as a means to generate income for our rescue operations. By participating in our programs, you not only support our cause but also get to experience the joy of horse riding in the beautiful surroundings of KwaZulu-Natal.

At Heartland, we are committed to expanding our facilities to accommodate more animals, staff, and students in our program. We dream of creating a larger sanctuary where horses can thrive and where our community can come together to learn, heal, and grow.

We are not just limited to rescuing horses. Our compassionate team also assists with rescues for dogs, cats, and other animals. We believe that every animal deserves a chance at a better life, and we will continue to extend our helping hand whenever possible.
